রাজধানী ঢাকাকে মসজিদের শহর বলা হয়। ঢাকার ছোট অলি-গলি থেকে শুরু করে বড় রাস্তার পাশেও মসজিদ পাওয়া যায়। ঢাকায় কতগুলো মসজিদের সঠিক সংখ্যা জানা না গেলেও, বলা হয় মসজিদের শহর। 

মূলত মুঘল আমল থেকেই মসজিদের শহরে পরিণত হয় ঢাকা। বর্তমানে নতুন অনেক মসজিদ নির্মাণ হলেও প্রাচীন মসজিদের সৌন্দর্যের সঙ্গে পাল্লা দিতে পারেনি।
